Partnering with Local Businesses

Every season, Ballet Midwest dancers take excerpts from performances along with narrations to teach about the art of ballet to a variety of local businesses. Ballet Midwest dancers have shared at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, Kansas Children's Discovery Center, The Toy Store, First Friday Art Walks, and more!

Participating in Community Events

Since 1977, Ballet Midwest has been an active member of the Topeka Community. Over the years, we have joined the fun in support of our Topeka community through events such as the Miracle on Kansas Avenue Parade, Festival of Trees, Easter Parade, St. Patrick's Day Parade, Kids Fest, and so much more!

Partnering with Local Schools

Ballet Midwest is the only company to present a full-length Nutcracker benefit performance to 4th grade students and other groups in the Topeka community free of charge.  Schools are provided educational information regarding ballet and the Nutcracker story prior to traveling to TPAC to enjoy the full performance. We are fully committed to ensuring that all students in Topeka have the opportunity to experience a full-length arts production.

In the spring, we partnered with the Topeka Performing Arts Center by sharing part of our spring ballets through their Schooltime Theatre series.

Annual Nutcracker School Tours

Some schools are unable to make the benefit performance for a variety of reasons, so Ballet Midwest brings part of the Nutcracker to them!

My First Ballet Series

Every spring, Ballet Midwest presents a ballet performance that is perfect for the younger child. Some years, this is a shortened and narrated version of our spring ballet. Other years, the performance includes kid-friendly characters coupled with some dance and theater education. Ballet Midwest donates some free tickets to different schools and organizations to ensure that all students have access to the arts.
